Terms of Service
Last updated: April 6, 2026
Agreement
By using Invisible Budget ("the Service"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. We may update these terms — continued use after changes means you accept them.
What Invisible Budget is
Invisible Budget is a personal finance tool that connects to your bank accounts (via Plaid), categorizes transactions using AI, and provides insights about your financial life. It is an informational tool — not a financial advisor, accountant, or fiduciary.
What Invisible Budget is NOT
- Not financial advice. The AI surfaces patterns and data. It does not tell you what to do with your money. Nothing in the Service constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
- Not a money mover. All bank connections are read-only. The Service cannot initiate transactions, transfers, or payments.
- Not an accountant. While we aim for accuracy, you should not rely solely on the Service for tax preparation, legal compliance, or financial decisions with significant consequences.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
- You may only connect bank accounts that you own or are authorized to access
- One account per person — your data is isolated and not visible to other users
Your data
You own your financial data. We don't. See our Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and how we protect it.
- You can export all your data at any time (Settings → Download Backup)
- You can request deletion of all your data at any time
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
- We do not use your data to train AI models
AI-generated content
The Service uses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to categorize transactions, generate reports, and answer questions. AI-generated content may contain errors. Specifically:
- Transaction categories may be incorrect — you can correct them
- Financial insights are based on available data and may not reflect your complete financial picture
- Reports and forecasts are estimates, not guarantees
- The AI always queries your real data before responding, but interpretation of that data is automated and imperfect
Always verify important financial information independently.
Email notifications
By using the Service, you consent to receiving email notifications based on your preferences, including:
- Financial reports (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Alerts for large transactions, unusual spending, and low balances
- Product updates and service announcements
You can manage your notification preferences at any time in Settings. Transactional emails related to account security cannot be disabled.
Third-party services
The Service integrates with third-party services including Plaid (bank connections), Anthropic (AI), Resend (email delivery), and Render (hosting). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to access other users' data or accounts
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the Service
- Interfere with the Service's infrastructure or availability
Service availability
We aim to keep Invisible Budget available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control (including third-party outages from Plaid or bank providers).
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Invisible Budget and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or financial losses arising from:
- Your use of or inability to use the Service
- Errors in AI-generated categorizations, insights, or reports
- Unauthorized access to your data
- Inaccurate or delayed financial data from bank connections
- Financial decisions made based on information from the Service
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms. On termination, you can request an export of your data before deletion.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
